Brenda & Philip Robertson’s SAVORTHETIME (Gilded Time) tracked pacesetter
Cologny (Go for Gin) along the inside for much of Saturday’s $100,000
First Lady
H. (G3)
at Gulfstream Park before moving outside that rival in the stretch
drive. With John Velazquez in the saddle, the eventual winner rallied near the
sixteenth pole to catch up and go on to post a 2 1/2-length victory. Trained by
Steven Asmussen, the six-year-old mare completed the six-furlong fast track
feature in a speedy 1:09 1/5 as the 8-5 favorite.

Savorthetime rewarded her many backers with payouts of $5.40, $3 and $2.20
while starting the $10.50 exacta ($1) and $25.40 trifecta ($1). Cologny easily
held second, 3 3/4 lengths up on Ebony Breeze (Belong to Me), and gave back $3.40
and $2.40 at nearly 7-2. Ebony Breeze broke a bit slow, but closed well to
garner show, returning $2.20 at nearly 3-1. Feline Story (Tale of the Cat) ended
the 1-4-2-3 superfecta ($1) that was worth $45.80. Expect an Angel (Valid
Expectation), Una Mirim (Brz) (Oromo [Fr]) and Pop Princess (Alphabet Soup)
completed the order of finish.

Savorthetime earned her first graded score with this win, but had already
recorded four other stakes victories during her career, including the Valid
Expectations S. and Dream Supreme H. in 2004. The chestnut mare also owns three
stakes placings and improved her line to 24-10-4-4 to go along with $409,028 in
lifetime earnings.

Bred in Kentucky by Runnymede Farm Inc. & Catesby W. Clay, Savorthetime sold
to her current connections for $40,000 at the 2000 Keeneland September Yearling
Sale. She is the second registered foal out of the winning Lovington (Afleet),
who is also the dam of multiple stakes-placed Indy Mood for Luv (A.P. Indy) and
an unnamed yearling colt by Sky Classic.
