His Highness the Aga Khan’s AZAMOUR (Ire) (Night
Shift) is recovering from colic surgery after being admitted to Troytown
Hospital on Wednesday. The multiple Group 1 winner had recently retired to his
owner’s Gilltown
Stud in Ireland.

Azamour was operated on by Michael Sadlier and Hugh
Dillon.

“He has
made an excellent recovery from the surgery and anesthetic, and we are pleased with his
progress at this stage,” Sadlier said.

The winner of this year’s Prince of Wales’s S. (Eng-G1) and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth
Diamond S. (Eng-G1), Azamour’s swan song was a third-place finish in
the October 29
Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) at Belmont Park.

The four-year-old is expected to recover in
order to commence his breeding career at the start of the 2006 season.
