Apple Blossom H. (G1) heroine DREAM OF SUMMER (Siberian Summer), a 1
1/2-length winner of the California Cup Matron H. most recently, tops a field of
13 distaffers entered for Sunday’s $150,000 Bayakoa H. (G2). The Juan
Garcia-trained mare is the 122-pound highweight with jockey Pat Valenzuela, and
her main rivals for the 1 1/16-mile event include ISLAND FASHION (Petionville),
GIRL WARRIOR (Elusive Quality) and STAR PARADE (Arg) (Parade Marshal).

Three-time Grade 1 queen Island Fashion is winless from nine attempts this
year, but she does own good runner-up finishes in the Vanity Invitational H. (G1), Santa
Monica H. (G1) and John C. Mabee H. (G1). The gray mare exits an unplaced finish
in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) and must overcome the far outside post on
Sunday. Girl Warrior recorded a sharp score in the El Encino S. (G2) earlier this
year and comes out of a dead-heat victory in the grassy Miss America H. at Golden Gate
Fields. Star Parade, a two-time Grade 1 victress, finished a good second behind
Dream of Summer in the Apple Blossom and missed by only a half-length when
second in the Lady Secret’s Breeders’ Cup H. (G2) two starts back. The
six-year-old will go from turf to dirt after placing in the Las Palmas H. (G2)
last out.

Brazilian import NOSSA CANCAO (Brz) (Fast Gold), who exits a 1 1/4-length
score in an allowance/optional claiming event at Hollywood, will lead the post
parade with a 114-pound impost that includes jockey Omar Berrio. Next comes Girl
Warrior, Victor Espinoza, 117; A SONG IN A MINOR (Real Quiet), Kerwin John, 114;
HALO OLA (Arg) (Southern Halo), Alex Solis, 117; CREAM DONUT KEITH (Lion
Hearted), Javier Santiago, 110; Dream of Summer; Star Parade, Martin Pedroza,
116; SOMETHINABOUTLAURA (Dance Floor), David Flores, 113; PROPOSED (Benchmark),
Jon Court, 112; I CAN YODELE (Swiss Yodeler), Felipe Martinez, 111; FAST NAVY (Brz)
(Minstrel Glory), David Cohen, 112; SPARKLING HUMOR (Distorted Humor), Tyler
Baze, 114; and Island Fashion, Garrett Gomez, 119.
