Hollywood Park announces purse increase

Last updated: 12/7/05 1:11 PM

Hollywood Park has increased overnight purses by 5 percent, retroactive to
the beginning of the current meet on November 9.

The Inglewood, California, track increased purses by 15 percent at the
beginning of the meeting following the cancellation of turf racing. The
additional increase has been approved by the Thoroughbred Owners of California
and will be paid immediately.

“We are in an underpayment situation,” Hollywood Park General Manager Eual G.
Wyatt Jr. said. “We would rather pay the money now than in January. We’re very
appreciative of all the horsemen — the TOC and the CTT (California Thoroughbred
Trainers) — for their support in helping us deal with the extraordinary set of
circumstances we found ourselves in entering this meeting.”

The 27-day fall meet concludes on December 19.
