A field of 12 fillies and mares has been entered in Saturday’s $200,000 La Prevoyante H. (G2) on Calder’s Grand Slam II program, and the 1 1/2-mile
turf test features the return of FILM MAKER (Dynaformer). The H. Graham Motion
trainee will be making her first start here since running a close third in the
Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) and could easily round out her
five-year-old campaign with a win in this one.

The dark bay mare is unraced at Calder but has shown the ability to take her
track with her in the past, as evidenced by four graded wins over as many
different courses. Film Maker started off the year on the right note, taking the Gallorette H. (G3), but hasn’t visited the winner’s circle since, though she has
been close in all five subsequent starts. She’ll also be trying 1 1/2 miles for the
first time here, but has had no difficulties managing 11 furlongs this year,
just missing by a neck in the Glens Falls H. (G3) in September. Film Maker has
been working well in advance of Saturday’s race and looks poised for the win
with Edgar Prado in the irons.

NOBLE STELLA (Ger) (Monsun) dominated a field of nine in the Flaming Page S.
two back while going 1 1/2 miles at Woodbine. She’s spent much of 2005 running
in Canada, and it probably benefited her when she finished sixth, just three
lengths back of the winner, in the E.P. Taylor S. (Can-G1) last out. Her rider
lost his whip in the stretch of that 10-furlong test as she began her rally, but
the four-year-old miss still outran her 21-1 odds that day. Trained by Roger
Attfield, she recorded a nice four-furlong move in :49 at Payson Park last
Saturday to prepare for this one and shows two century-topping BRIS Speed
numbers from her past three starts. Noble Stella will be tough with her rallying
kick. Eddie Castro has the call.

SPOTLIGHT (GB) (Dr Fong) captured the Cicada S. two back before recording a
neck second in the Long Island H. (G2) most recently. The Christophe Clement
charge earned a nice 102 BRIS E2 Pace figure for challenging the pacesetter in
that last one and owns the Speed numbers to keep up with any distaffer in this
field.. The four-year-old chestnut has been off the board only five times
during her 16-race career, with three of those coming as close fourths.
Spotlight will be close to the pace if not setting it, and could forget to stop
on the front end under Brice Blanc.

KATE WINSLET (Signal Tap) was just a length behind Spotlight in the Long
Island last out, and easily took the Yaddo H. prior to that to earn her first
U.S. stakes victory. Already a multiple listed winner in France, the bay
four-year-old has shown steady improvement since coming to the United States
last fall and will make her presence felt with Shaun Bridgmohan
holding the reins. MOSCOW BURNING (Moscow Ballet) will be making only her fourth
start of the year in this event, but enters on an upswing, having earned her
first win last out since scoring in the Sheesphead Bay H. (G2) in May of 2004.
Her most recent victory came in the California Cup Distance H. during the Oak
Tree meet, where she gutted out a three-quarter-of-a-length win. The bay mare
could continue reverting back to her previous form and challenge for the win
here. David Flores will ride.

A LULU OFA MENIFEE (Menifee) is looking for her first win this year and could
show up in the gimmicks here. The Barclay Tagg-trained four-year-old led for
part of the Waya S. at Saratoga before being caught late in the stretch and
finishing second. Rafael Bejarano is named to ride, which can only help her
chances. JOYFUL CHAOS (Rahy) has won four of her last five starts, but will be
making her graded debut in this one. She’s really blossomed this year and could
make a run for the top three. SISTER SWANK (Skip Away) transferred to Eddie Kenneally’s barn before her last race and has already shown some improvement,
running fourth by just a length in her most recent start at Churchill Downs. Consider for the
exotics.

MILWAUKEE (Fr) (Desert King) is making her U.S. debut in this spot and,
though competitive in her native land, the bay mare might need a couple of races
to acclimate herself to her new surroundings. VERY VERY (Royal Academy) captured
the Pleasant Temper S. three back, but might not be fast enough to keep up with
these. MISS NASHWAN (Ire) (Nashwan) was well back when making her U.S. stakes
debut last out and we don’t think she’ll improve much in this one. LA SAMI (Per)
(Laubali) looks out of her class here.
