Saturday’s $100,000 Frances A. Genter S. (G3) drew an overflow of 16
sophomore fillies for 7 1/2 grassy furlongs around two turns at Calder, but only
12 will be allowed to start in the contentious affair.

READY’S GAL (More Than Ready) returns to her preferred surface following a
poor effort in the off-the-turf Pebbles S. at Belmont Park, and the Todd
Pletcher-trained filly drew a favorable inside post. She parlayed a close
stalking trip into a victory in the Lake George S. (G3) three starts back at
Saratoga but got burned on the front end in the Lake Placid S. (G2) in her next
outing. The chestnut miss has proven that she can lead or stalk, and her speed
could come in very handy with no confirmed front runners in the lineup. Jockey
John Velazquez will likely be up close from the start and should be able to save
enough for the finish.

MORE THAN PROMISED (More Than Ready) appears very dangerous. Winner of the
Pago Hop S. last time at Louisiana Downs, the Steve Asmussen trainee owns a
four-race win skein and ran well over the turf at Calder in May when finishing
first in a stakes event (disqualified to second). Her BRIS Late Pace numbers are
strong and the distance is a perfect fit. More Than Promised could prove
impossible deny from off the pace.

TIGER BELLE (Tiger Ridge) enters on the upswing for trainer David Muench and
looms as a factor once again from off the pace. Mike Smith picks up the mount,
and the bay filly has been earning terrific Late Pace ratings in her last four
starts. She could be overlooked once again in the wagering (won Calder Oaks at
32-1 last time), and we’ll use her in the top three.

DANSETTA LIGHT (Colony Light), a two-time turf stakes winner at Calder, adds
blinkers and will attempt to offer a strong showing from off the pace. She
hasn’t gotten much pace to run at in her recent turf efforts and might have to
close off moderate fractions once again, but Dansetta Light remains a threat for
a small share.

ELLE RUNAWAY (El Prado [Ire]) hails from the dangerous Marty Wolfson stable
and ran well at Woodbine this summer, winning a one-mile stakes race in
September. The gray miss received a good tune-up for this event last time
against better company in the My Charmer H. (G3), finishing sixth, and could
move forward here. However, Elle Runaway’s BRIS numbers are a little low.
LAURAFINA (Cozzene) has been freshened since late July for trainer Robert
Barbara and could surprise us here. She showed some talent finishing second to
Melhor Ainda (Pulpit) in June’s Sands Point S. (G3) and then recorded a nice
allowance score at Belmont two starts back. The lightly raced gray might need a
start off the layoff, but ignore her at your own risk.

FLYING CIRCLE (Pembroke) owns a solid 2-0-2 mark from five turf attempts and
didn’t finish a bad fifth last time in the Mrs. Revere S. (G2). She’s trained
well for her return to Calder and can’t be dismissed from top three
consideration. ACLASSYSASSYLASSY (Wild Event) won the Judy’s Red Shoes S. on the
turf three back, but she hasn’t fared well in her last two outings and drew a
terrible outside post (12). We’ll go against here.

POMMES FRITES (Dynaformer) exits a nice allowance score at Belmont but hasn’t
shown much against stakes rivals in the past. We’ll just watch for now.
CHAMPAGNE ENDING (Precise End) tackles open company and could find the class
hike too severe. SNUG HARBOUR (Boston Harbor) and RUNNING BOBCATS (Running Stag)
both look overmatched here.

BRAZILIAN (Stravinsky) is stuck on the also-eligibles list but will deserve
some consideration if she draws in. The lightly raced Pletcher trainee exits
convincing maiden and allowance scores, but she would be stuck on the far
outside if she gets in and may be too inexperienced. KAT PRINCESS (El Prado
[Ire]), WICKED FUNNY (Distorted Humor) and CRAFTY JUDY (Touch Gold) are also on
the also-eligibles list and would all face a difficult task in the main body of
the field.
