Magic Millions sale about to begin

Last updated: 10/28/08 7:12 PM

The Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale begins Thursday on the
Gold Coast. One of the highlights of the catalog is Hip No. 295, a half brother
by Octagonal to leading three-year-old Group 1 winner Whobegotyou (Street Cry
[Ire]). The juvenile is consigned by Cloud Nine Equine Enterprises.

“It appears he has a very similar nature as his half brother,” said Cloud
Nine’s Sarah Murray-Leslie. “This bloke is very laid back and is easy to work
with. He is a nice moving horse and he will be similar to Whobegotyou, I’m sure
— not an early two-year-old, but a horse who will continue to blossom at three
and beyond. Whobegotyou looks a sensational racehorse with an incredible future.
We’re thrilled to be offering his half brother this week.”

The auction will mark the Australian sales debut of BC3 Australia. Formed by
American pinhookers John Brocklebank and Shane Chipman, BC3 Australia’s draft
includes three youngster who are already trial winners. In the consignment is
Hip 248, a full brother to stakes-placed Falvelon’s Dream (Falvelon), and Fast
Lover (Iglesia), Hip 352, a trial winner at Eagle Farm.

“All BC3 Australia horses are for sale and our charter ensures that none are
held back unless a horse proves itself not up to our high standards,” general
manager Aaron Corby said. “BC3 Australia stands behind its product and our
success comes from the success of the owners and trainers who support our sales
drafts. We buy a specific type of horse that will suit both our operation and
our buyers. Quality is never compromised. All BC3 Australia’s horses are
equipped with education and training to become a racehorse. Right through to
barrier work, these horses are ready to be purchased one week and race the
next.”

During Tuesday’s first session of the sale’s breeze ups, a full brother to
champion Singaporean sprinter World Airlines (Umatilla) turned in the fastest
200-meter work of :10.49. The colt, consigned by Robyn Wise, agent, sells as Hip
10.

Following a second breeze-up session Wednesday, bidding begins Thursday.
