Grayson-Jockey Club announces horse photo contest

Last updated: 10/31/13 2:34 PM

Have you ever taken a beautiful photo of a horse or do you know someone who
has?
The Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation will help celebrate the Year of the
Horse, 2014, on the Chinese calendar by hosting a horse photo contest. The
contest is open to anyone and photos of any breed of horse are eligible.

Photos can be submitted on the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation website, grayson-jockeyclub.org,
beginning Thursday through November 29, 2013.

“Photography is a great vehicle by which individuals can express and share their
appreciation for the beauty of the horse and its surroundings,” Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation President Edward L. Bowen
said. “Since the
research conducted by our foundation benefits all breeds, we thought it
appropriate to make photos of any breed eligible for this contest.”

Finalists will be posted on the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation Facebook
page (facebook.com/GraysonJockeyClub) to be voted on by the public between
December 2 and December 31. The winner will be announced on January 3, 2014.

All finalists will receive “The New Yorker Grayson-Jockey Club Research
Foundation, Inc. Book of Cartoons,” a customized, limited-edition book of
equine-related cartoons, all of which have appeared in The New Yorker magazine.
The hardcover book features nearly 90 cartoons, most with an equine theme, by 46
artists.

The winner will be awarded with a signed and numbered print of “Memories of
Beauty,” a painting of Secretariat by artist Fay Moore.
