Keen Ice ‘tired’ but doing well after Travers

Last updated: 8/30/15 6:31 PM

Trainer Dale Romans reported Sunday morning that

Keen Ice (Curlin) was doing well but was tired — “with every right to be so” —
one day after running down Triple Crown champion American Pharoah (Pioneerof the
Nile) in the Travers S. (G1)
at Saratoga.

The two colts could rematch in the Breeders’ Cup Classic on October 31 at
Keeneland, but for now will share a plane ride to Lexington, Kentucky, on
Monday. There, Keen Ice will disembark for a van ride to Romans’ Churchill Downs
barn while American Pharoah and stable pony Smokey continue on to trainer Bob
Baffer’s base in Southern California.
