Polydream, Code of Honor among early Breeders’ Cup scratches

Polydream and Code of Honor are among the prominent early scratches from the 2018 Breeders’ Cup that were announced Friday morning at Churchill Downs.

Polydream, who was the 5-1 morning line favorite to give Freddy Head a sixth Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) win as either a jockey or trainer, has been scratched from Saturday’s grass test. The previously announced scratch of Hunt from the Mile now ensures also-eligibles Divisidero and Clemmie spots in the main body of the field.

Champagne (G1) runner-up Code of Honor has been scratched from Friday’s Juvenile (G1) due to a reported elevated temperature. Also scratched on Friday are the filly Shang Shang Shang and also-eligibles Comedy, Van Beethoven, and Legends of War from the Juvenile Turf Sprint. Big Drink of Water will now race in the Juvenile Turf Sprint following the withdrawal of Shang Shang Shang.

Awesome Slew has been scratched from Saturday’s Dirt Mile (G1).

Also eligibles in Friday’s Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) and Saturday’s Filly and Mare Sprint (G1), Turf Sprint (G1), and Classic (G1) have all been scratched.
