The Risen Star Stakes (G2) at Fair Grounds , El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields and Southwest Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park headline a stakes-laden Presidents’ Day weekend as points races on the Road to the Kentucky Derby .
The El Camino Real Derby holds the distinction of not only awarding points to the Run for the Roses on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs , but also bestowing an automatic berth to Pimlico ‘s Preakness Stakes (G1) upon the winner.
The fillies will get their turn in the spotlight with the Rachel Alexandra Stakes (G2), a points contest on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks , scheduled for Saturday at Fair Grounds as well.
