A field of 11 sprinters will head to the gate at Aqueduct on Sunday for the $100,000 Gravesend H. (G3). PRESIDENTIALAFFAIR (Not for Love) owns excellent early speed, earning BRIS E1 and E2 figures of 120 and 128, respectively,
en route to a 16 3/4-length romp in the Mountaineer Mile H. last out. The Aqueduct inner track has been playing well to early leaders thus far, and the Martin Ciresa charge could get out and hold on for a wire-to-wire trip under jockey Todd Glasser
in this six-furlong affair.
CLEVER ELECTRICIAN (Clever Trick) exits a solid third in the Frank J. DeFrancis Memorial Dash (G1), and has been putting together some good times on the work tab lately for conditioner Bruce Levine, who has won with four of his last 12 starters. The six-year-old bay has hit the board in two attempts over this surface and should be good for the exotics.
SMOKUME (Smoke Glacken) is unraced since coming home last in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt H. (G2) in August. The chestnut gelding has earned triple-digit E2 figures in his past nine consecutive outings, however, and should be in the mix
late for trainer Allen Jerkens. Jean-Luc Samyn has the call.
SPOOKY MULDER (Brunswick) has an affinity for Aqueduct’s inner track, winning three of his four starts, including a neck victory last out against optional-claiming company. He earned a 107 BRIS Speed figure for that one and could grab part.
INTROSPECT (In Case) is another with front-running capabilities, but was not able to hold on to the
lead last out over the inner track, placing third in an allowance contest on November 30. The five-year-old gelding has been lighting up the work
tab and should be kept in mind for the bottom of the gimmicks.
Although facing a class check, EXCITING METRO (Carson City) has good late speed which could get him into contention in the final parts of the race. SAAY MI NAME (Not for Love) is proficient at six furlongs and could make a good showing here from just off the pace.
BANJO PICKER (Swear by Dixie) will be breaking from the rail post, which is winning at an 18 percent clip, but
the five-year-old gelding is inexperienced against this talented a group and we will just watch
him here. ACCLIMATE (Forestry) has been improving in his past few performances, earning a career high 104 Speed figure last out, but makes a jump in class.
We will bet against.
SUPER FUSE (Lite the Fuse) is winless since March of 2004 and we don’t see him pulling
off the upset on Sunday. PIONEER EMPIRE (Pioneering) has not been putting up the numbers to
be considered for the win.
