Santa Anita Park’s 2017 spring meet is coming to a close, but not before 12 juveniles – six fillies, five colts and one ridgling – take a final spin around the Arcadia, California, track.

The $100,000 Landaluce Stakes for two-year-old fillies and $100,000 Santa Anita Juvenile Stakes are just two events in the final days of the spring meet, but could give a preview of some talented runners.

Sunday’s Landaluce features the six fillies, including Gorgeous Ginny. The Robertino Diodoro trainee broke her maiden at Santa Anita on May 4 in her first outing by 5 1/4 lengths. That earned the Take Charge Indy lass a field-best 91 BRIS Speed rating and she also ranks first in BRIS Prime Power (134.1).

Gorgeous Ginny stretches out an extra furlong in this 5 1/2-furlong affair with Jamie Theriot holding he reins once again.

Surrender Now also captured her maiden debut, but did so just three weeks ago on June 9 for trainer Peter Miller. The Morning Line filly as awarded an 89 BRIS Speed rating for that five-furlong effort, and keeps jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr. aboard Sunday.

Spirit of Shanghai and Flat Drunk also took their first starts, while Empress of Love needed two tries to break through with a win. Sauce on Side makes her racing debut in this spot.

Monday will see the boys take to the track in the 5 1/2-furlong Santa Anita Juvenile.

Leading the half-dozen entrants is Run Away from Simon Callaghan’s shedrow. The Run Away and Hide colt scored by 2 1/4 lengths on May 26 at Santa Anita Park, good for a 92 BRIS Speed figure, and is first in BRIS Prime Power (135.7) against this group. Flavien Prat has the return call.

Big Boy Candy will attempt to parlay an 8 1/4-length maiden claiming romp on June 4 into stakes victory for trainer Alfredo Marquez. The Twirling Candy colt scored that victory for Miller but was claimed by Marquez, who has tabbed jockey Tyler Baze to be in the saddle here.

Sir Valentine earned a 90 BRIS Speed rating taking his maiden debut by 2 1/4 lengths at Santa Anita on May 6. The Kristin Mulhall trainee reunites with Martin Pedroza in this first attempt against winners.

Argosy Fleet got his career started with a head victory at Santa Anita on May 12, while Cono finished second in his debut before scoring by 2 1/4 lengths two weeks ago on June 16.

Encumbered makes his racing debut in the Santa Anita Juvenile for Callaghan.
