Nine set for Indiana Derby


A well-matched field of nine three-year-olds has been entered
for Saturday night’s $500,000 Indiana Derby (G2) at Hoosier Park.
Ohio Derby (G2) hero BRASS HAT (Prized), West Virginia Derby (G3)
winner SIR SHACKLETON (Miswaki), Lexington S. (G2) victor
QUINTONS GOLD RUSH (Wild Rush) and Illinois Derby (G2) king
POLLARD’S VISION (Carson City) are slated to contest the 1
1/16-mile main track event.


Pollard’s Vision, who is also cross-entered to Friday night’s
Pegasus H. (G2), drew the rail for the Indiana Derby. He’ll carry
124 pounds, including jockey John Velazquez. Next in the post
parade comes Sir Shackleton, Rafael Bejarano, 124; HASSLEFREE
(Forestry), John McKee, 115; PERFECT MOON (Malibu Moon), Jon
Court, 121; Quintons Gold Rush, Shane Sellers, 124; AVID SKIER
(Appealing Skier), Jose Delgado, 119; SUAVE (A.P. Indy), Brian
Peck, 124; Brass Hat, Willie Martinez, 124; and EDGERRIN
(Category Five), Thomas Pompell, 119.
