Keeneland fall meet ends


Keeneland’s 17-day fall meet concluded on a high note, though
not as high as last year’s corresponding meet, which set a record
of $27,591,341, which averaged out to $1,623,020, for on-track
wagering.


This season’s fall meet totaled $26,866,581, an average of
$1,580,387, for on-track wagering. The attendance of 227,620 also
took second place to last year’s mark of 232,499. Daily average
attendance in 2004 came to 13,389, which was the fourth best for
the fall meet.


Jockey Rafael Bejarano guided 26 mounts to the winner’s
circle, earning him the jockey’s title over Pat Day and Brian
Hernandez Jr., who each had 20 winners. Steven Asmussen and Nick
Zito tied for top trainer with 11 wins each to their credit. G.
Watts Humphrey Jr. and partners totaled seven victories to claim
the owner’s title. Tracy Farmer had five winners, and Ken and
Sarah Ramsey finished just one back with four.
