Tempted goes to Summer Raven

Edgewood Farm’s SUMMER RAVEN (Summer Squall) sailed to an easy
front-running win in Tuesday’s $104,600 Tempted S. (G3) at
Aqueduct, taking the one-mile event for juvenile fillies by two
lengths under Stewart Elliott, who swept both juvenile stakes on
Election Day. The Todd Pletcher trainee broke on top and went
unchallenged through the stretch as the 6-1 fourth choice in the
field of five.

The bay miss clipped off splits of :23 1/5, :46 1/5 and 1:10
1/5 before stopping the teletimer in 1:36 over a fast track, and
Summer Raven returned $15.20, $6.40 and $2.60 to her supporters.
K.D.’s Shady Lady (Maria’s Mon), who was also off at 6-1, offered
a solid run from just off the pace for second and paid $6.90 and
$2.60. Exacta holders got $87.

“She broke pretty sharp and made the lead pretty
easily,” said Elliott, who replaced an injured Richard
Migliore in the saddle. “I just wanted to sit and get her
comfortable. She kept running. I knew I had some horse left. I
knew she was going to be tough to beat.”

Recent maiden winner Salute (Unbridled), daughter of
undefeated champion Personal Ensign and heavily favored at 3-5,
weakened through the stretch to third and gave back $2.10. The
4-2-5 trifecta totaled $147. Winsome (War Chant) and Hide and
Chic (Seeking the Gold) rounded out the order of finish.

Summer Raven, who was coming off a third-place finish in the
Astarita S. (G3), recorded her first stakes score and now shows a
6-2-1-1 mark with $118,910 in earnings.

Bred in Kentucky by Mt Brilliant Farm LLC, she’s the second
registered foal from the winning Rahy Rose (Rahy) and has an
unnamed yearling half-brother by Lemon Drop Kid. Summer Raven was
purchased for $200,000 at last year’s Keeneland September sale.
