Winter weather forced some tracks to call off racing on Sunday. A mixture of
snow, sleet and freezing rain resulted in Maryland Jockey Club officials
canceling Laurel Park’s card for the second straight Sunday. Simulcasting was
still available at Laurel and Pimlico.
Laurel was scheduled to open last weekend after 10 months of renovation but
the opening weekend was called off after a snow storm hit the area last Saturday
morning.
Turfway Park canceled Saturday and Sunday racing because of weather
conditions. The Forego S., which had been set for Saturday, will be rescheduled
for next weekend. Turfway still offered simulcasting on Sunday.
Charles Town and Mountaineer Park also canceled Sunday.
