The mutuel field became the 2-1 favorite when Pool 1 of the Kentucky Derby
Future Wager closed on Sunday. A total of $164,706 was wagered on the “all other
three-year-olds” listing, which opened on the morning line at 3-1.
Juvenile champion DECLAN’S MOON (Malibu Moon) was the only individual betting
interest to close at single-digit odds. A total of $48,415 was wagered on the
dark bay gelding, making him the 9-1 second pick. Undefeated ROCKPORT HARBOR
(Unbridled’s Song) was the next lowest in the odds, closing at 13-1 while still
waiting to make his three-year-old debut.
Juvenile champion filly SWEET CATOMINE (Storm Cat), who captured the Santa
Ysabel S. (G3) in her 2005 bow, was the only filly listed individually for the
Kentucky Derby. The bay miss closed at 21-1, with $22,829 wagered on her.
A total of $620,362 was wagered during Pool 1 of the future wager.
