Undefeated Remsen S. (G2) winner ROCKPORT HARBOR (Unbridled’s Song) was
recovering from a bruise on his left front foot on Monday. The injury forced the
John Servis-trained colt to miss a scheduled one-mile workout on Sunday at
Oaklawn Park.
“Rocky has shown big improvement since yesterday,” Servis said. “He’s getting
around the stall much better. That’s a good sign, but we’re not out of the woods
yet. It’s day to day. When Rocky tells us he’s ready to go back to the track,
he’ll go back. Not ’til then.”
Rockport Harbor is scheduled to make his three-year-old debut in the $250,000
Rebel S. (G3) on March 19, but his status for the 1 1/16-mile test remains in
doubt.
“As I said, we want very much to make the Rebel, but we won’t run Rocky
unless he’s 110 percent,” Servis said.
Meanwhile, trainer Bob Holthus reported that Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2)
winner GREATER GOOD (Intidab) came out of his last-to-first victory in
Saturday’s one-mile Southwest S. in good order.
“He’ll go back to the track Wednesday,” Holthus said. “Then he’ll have one
easy work and one stiff work before the Rebel. He’s fit. That’s all he’ll need.”
Trainer Tim Ritchey said Hopeful S. (G1) winner AFLEET ALEX (Northern Afleet),
who has not started since finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), would
have his second workout of the season later in the week.
“Alex will work either Thursday or Friday, probably Thursday,” Ritchey said.
“It will be a typical work, either five furlongs in a minute, or three-quarters
in 12 and change or 13.”
Jeremy Rose, who rode Afleet Alex in all six of his career starts, will be
astride.
