Longacres Mile

Last updated: 8/21/05 8:57 PM

Herman Sarkowsky’s homebred NO GIVEAWAY (He’s Tops) closed with a rush in
between horses to annex the $250,000
Longacres Mile (G3) at Emerald Downs on
Sunday. The locally based Grant Forster trainee sat in last off the pace of Sabertooth (Petersburg), who set strong splits of :22 2/5 and :44 4/5 for the
opening half-mile. Quiet Cash (Real Quiet), also trained by Forster, took the
lead turning for home after six furlongs in 1:09 3/5 and looked well on his way
to victory in midstretch, but fell short late as his stablemate powered home,
completing the mile in 1:35 3/5 over a fast surface. The 60-1 longest shot on
the board winner rewarded his loyal backers with huge payoffs of $122, $42.40
and $14.20, while keying the whopping $1 exotics of $658 (exacta), $4,931.50 (trifecta) and $14,926.70 superfecta (9-10-11-all).

Quiet Cash was a very sharp runner-up at 21-1, holding on to the place by a
nose over the late-charging Desert Boom (Boomerang), and paying $19.40 and
$8.80. The latter was a good third, worth for $5.20 at 4-1. Harvard Avenue (You
and I) was a closing fourth another 1 1/4 lengths back to complete the
superfecta at 4-1.

Adreamisborn (Kris S.) was next by a neck and followed by Flamethrowintexan
(Way West [Fr]), Mr. Makah (Majesterian), R. Associate (Crafty Prospector),
Turban (Lord Avie), Sabertooth and Snorter (Awesome Again).

No Giveaway recently took the Governor’s H., and now sports a mark of
10-6-3-0 with earnings of $211,406. He was bred in Washington and is out of the
Fly So Free mare Takeaway.

The winner is a full-brother to the multiple-stakes winning Youcan’ttakeme, a
half-brother to the unraced two-year-old colt Dixie Talent (Dixie Union), as well as a 2005
filly by Fusaichi Pegasus.
