Proud Accolade retired

Proud Accolade retires with two graded stakes wins to his name  (Michael J. Marten/Horsephotos.com)

Grade 1 winner PROUD ACCOLADE (Yes It’s True), who ran third to Roman Ruler
(Fusaichi Pegasus) and Flower Alley (Distorted Humor) in the July 4 Dwyer S.
(G2) at Belmont Park, has been retired from racing and will enter stud next year
at Padua Stables near Summerfield, Florida, for a fee of $5,000.

Proud Accolade defeated Afleet Alex (Northern Afleet) by a half length in
last year’s Champagne S. (G1) at Belmont Park. He captured the Hutcheson S. (G2)
in his three-year-old debut and will head to the breeding shed with a record of
10-4-0-1 and $476,630 in earnings.

“Proud Accolade was one of the best of his generation and won one of the most
important sire making stakes in the Champagne,” said Padua owner Satish Sanan.
“He went on at three to win the Grade 2 Hutcheson, another race noted for
producing sires. With the excellent success his sire had here, and his pedigree
being a complete outcross for Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer, we are very
excited to bring him to Florida.”

Proud Accolade was purchased by Padua for $450,000 at the 2004 Ocala
Breeders’ Sales Company’s March Two-Year-Old in Training Sale. He is out of
Proud Ciel (Septieme Ciel), a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Mr. Impatience (Slewpy).
