Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale begins Monday and continues
through January 15.
A record 2,508 horses have been cataloged, comprising 1,290 broodmares or
broodmare prospects, 924 yearlings, 268 horses of racing age, 22 stallions or
stallion prospects, three stallion shares and a lifetime breeding right to
Medaglia d’Oro.
Among the most notable horses on offer are multiple Grade 1 winner ISLAND
FASHION (Petionville), consigned as a racing or broodmare prospect by Pope
McLean (Crestwood Farm), agent for Everest Stables; and ELBAAHA (GB) (Arazi),
the dam of multiple Group 1 victor Electrocutionist (Red Ransom), in foal to
leading European sire Montjeu (Ire), consigned by Indian Creek Farm (Dave C.
Parrish Jr.) as agent.
Sires represented by broodmares in foal or yearlings include Awesome Again,
Carson City, Deputy Minister, Distorted Humor, Dixieland Band, Dynaformer, El
Prado (Ire), Fusaichi Pegasus, Giant’s Causeway, Gone West, Grand Slam,
Kingmambo, Mineshaft, Pulpit, Smarty Jones, Songandaprayer, Stephen Got Even,
Tale of the Cat, Tiznow and Unbridled’s Song.
Danzig, whose death occurred this week, has a yearling filly from his
final crop in the sale.
Stallions whose first foals arrived in 2005 include Aldebaran, Harlan’s Holiday, Johar, Posse, Sky Mesa and Vindication.
