U.A.E. Derby (UAE-G2) winner DISCREET CAT (Forestry) is out of the Kentucky
Derby (G1) picture. The unbeaten Godolphin colorbearer won’t run in any of the
Triple Crown races.

“Discreet Cat is a really promising young horse, but after assessing the
situation, Sheikh Mohammed has decided that he would prefer to give him more
time,” explained Simon Crisford, Godolphin’s racing manager. “We see him as an
important horse for Godolphin both later this season and next year. He won’t
actually be three until May, so we want to give him time to develop. Although we
have no specific targets in mind for him at the moment, Discreet Cat will not be
running in any of the Triple Crown races.”

Discreet Cat impressively captured his career debut at Saratoga but didn’t
reappear under silks until March, easily winning a one-mile allowance at Nad al
Sheba. He dominated a stellar field in the U.A.E. Derby, winning by six smashing
lengths under Frankie Dettori, and would’ve taken plenty of betting action on
Kentucky Derby Day due to his brilliance so far.

He’ll be shipped soon to Belmont Park where he will be prepared for major
races in the United States later this year.
