Orientate colt posts :22 quarter at Keeneland

Last updated: 4/17/06 8:37 PM

At the second under tack show for Keeneland’s April Two-Year-Olds in Training
Sale, Hip. No. 12, a dark bay colt by Orientate, zipped two furlongs
in :22 to record the fastest breeze at the distance over a track labeled good.
Consigned by Kirkwood Stables, agent, the Florida-bred is out of the
stakes-placed Pascali (Great Above), who is a half-sister to multiple stakes
winner Darian’s Reason (Hall of Reason). The juvenile had worked one furlong in
:10 3/5 in the first training preview a week ago.

Two juveniles tied for the fastest one-furlong work in :10 4/5. Hip 128, a
colt by Buddha, is offered by Leprechaun Racing, agent. Produced by Grade
3-placed Comical Cat (Exceller), the gray is a half-brother to 1997 Ack Ack H.
(G3) winner Cat’s Career (Mr. Prospector) and stakes winner Al’s River Cat (Riverman).
Hip 162, LADY OFFICER (Officer), is the first registered foal from the
stakes-placed Genteel World (Spinning World), who is out of a half-sister to
multiple stakes winner Spiritual Star (Soviet Star). The New York-bred filly is
consigned by American Equistock. In last week’s under tack show, both juveniles
had turned in the same time.

No works took place on the turf because of significant overnight rainfall that rendered the course too soft.

The sale will be held on Tuesday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. (EDT).
