Warren B. Williamson’s FOXYSOX (GB) (Foxhound) remained perfect from three
starts in the U. S. by capturing the $109,400
Providencia S. (G3)
at Santa Anita on Saturday. Trained by Carla Gaines, the three-year-old filly
stalked the pace
until the stretch before asserting her strong final rush, finishing one mile
on the firm turf in 1:34 4/5 to record her initial graded conquest. The chestnut
was ridden by Alex Bisono and rewarded her backers with mutuels of $10.20, $4.40
and $3.20 while keying the $12 exacta, $44.90 trifecta and $128.50 superfecta
(7-5-6-9),
all for $1 increments.

Harriett Lane (Giant’s Causeway), the 3-2 choice, steadily made up ground
from toward the back of the field for the place. The filly was
a nose clear of third and paid $3 and $2.40. Chosen Royalty (In Excess [Ire])
was last after a half-mile and did well to gain third at 9-2, paying $3.60. Shermeen
(Ire) (Desert Style) finished a length back in fourth to complete the superfecta at 7-2. Karlee’s
Kitten (Pioneering) was next and followed by Shaperelli (Ire) (Imperial Ballet
[Ire]), Golden Silk (Songandaprayer) and Two Turn Halo (Southern Halo). I Can
See (Flying Chevron) was scratched.

Foxysox has reeled off three straight wins over this turf course, including
the China Doll S. most recently. The lass has now banked $190,824 from an
8-3-0-2 mark.

Bred in Great Britain by B. J. and Mrs. Crangle, the winner was produced from
Triple Tricks (Royal Academy) Her granddam is English stakes winner Tricky Note
(Song), who was a full sister to multiple Group 3 winner Jester.
