Inglis followed up on its strong Easter Yearling Sale with a record-setting
Australian Select Weanling and Broodmare Sale. The weanling portion of the
auction generated a record average and a record-equaling foal price. The only
offering by Redoute’s Choice, whose yearlings set Inglis ablaze last week, sired
the sale-topping weanling out of Diorama (Zeditave). The filly, catalogued as
Lot No. 56, was purchased by William Inglis, acting as agent for an Australian
owner, for A$400,000. Attunga Stud consigned the September 26 foal.

A filly by Encosta de Lago was the second highest-priced weanling on the day,
attracting a final bid of A$300,000 from Riverslea Farm. Lot 152, out of
stakes-placed Shalang (Langfuhr), was consigned by Coolmore. The first weanling
by 2004 Horse of the Year Lonhro, Lot 154, attracted the top price for a colt
when sold to Inglis, agent, for A$150,000. The weanling was offered by Lonhro’s
owner-breeders Woodlands Stud.

Overall, 150 weanlings sold for A$3,728,200, a record average of A$24,855,
and a median of A$14,000.

At the conclusion of the weanling sale, the Easter Broodmare Sale started its
three-day run with LADY LARISSA (Belong to Me) bringing a final bid of A$500,000
to top the session. Entering the ring as lot 268, the four-year-old mare, in
foal to General Nediym, was consigned by Craig Anderson’s Broadwater Farm,
agent. Bloodstock agent Steve Brem purchased the filly.

During the session, 71 broodmares sold for A$3,418,050 and an average of
A$48,142.
