Catastrophe colt brings top price at final session of Fasig-Tipton
Texas sale

Hip No. 335, a dark bay colt by Catastrophe, fetched the high price of
$100,00 from Lee Young Farm at the second and final session of the Fasig-Tipton
Texas Summer Yearlings Sale at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on
Tuesday. Consigned by W.C. Thomas Farm, the March 21 youngster is out of the
winning mare Satin Shoes (Six Speed), a half-sister to stakes winner Pale Speed
(Six Speed). The dark bay yearling colt a half-brother to the multiple stakes-placed
Intractable (Sandpit [Brz]).

The second-highest price of the day went for Hip 397, a bay colt by A.P.
Delta, who sold to Carrol Castille for $85,000. Consigned by Elysian Bloodstock,
agent, the April 13 colt is out of the winning mare Tomoza (Hold Your Peace),
who is a half-sister to stakes winner and Canadian Grade 3 runner-up Honey’s Answer
(Greek Answer).

For the session, 134 yearlings sold for $1,564,800, up 10.1 percent from
$1,420,900 during last year’s comparative session. The average price increased
25.7 percent, from $9,287 to $11,871, while the median jumped 44.7 percent, from
$3,800 to $5,500.

Average and median rose sharply this year. For the sale, the average price improved by 15 percent, from $10,325
in 2005 to
$11,871, while median price rose 22.2 percent, from $4,500 to $5,500. With 272
horses selling for an aggregate $3,228,900, the gross fell 3.2 percent from 2005
when 323 yearlings brought $3,335,100.
