Aidan O’Brien reported Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith’s
GEORGE WASHINGTON (Danehill), a comeback third in the Celebration Mile (Eng-G2)
at Goodwood, has emerged from the race less than 100 percent, but is still
expected to contest the Queen Elizabeth II S. (Eng-G1) on September 23 at Ascot.

“He seems to be fine, but a small bit stiff which is understandable as Sunday
was the first time that muscle was really stretched fully,” the Ballydoyle
conditioner told Racing Post. “We’ll see what he’s like in a couple of days, but
all going well the Queen Elizabeth II S. is the plan at the moment.”

Despite being sent off the 5-6 favorite for Sunday’s mile contest, the Two
Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) hero could only fill the minor placings behind CARADAK
(Desert Style). That was the colt’s first outing since sustaining a muscular
injury after finishing runner-up in the Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) at
The Curragh.
