Nine remain in Irish Champion

Last updated: 9/4/06 8:12 PM

Michael Tabor’s HURRICANE RUN (Montjeu [Ire]) heads the nine remaining
entries in Saturday’s Irish Champion S. (Ire-G1) at Leopardstown. Connections
will make a final decision on the race later in the week, but Lord Derby’s OUIJA
BOARD (GB) (Cape Cross [Ire]) will be in the line-up. Jamie Spencer will be on
board.

Trainer Jim Bolger will also make a final call on the participation of Noel
and Miriam O’Callaghan’s ALEXANDER GOLDRUN (Gold Away [Ire]) in the upcoming
week. The six-year-old mare could seek revenge for her short-head defeat
by Ouija Board in the Nassau S. (Eng-G1) at Goodwood, or instead run in the
Matron S. (Ire-G1), also listed on Saturday’s card.

Aidan O’Brien has left in a trio headed by Susan Magnier and Tabor’s Irish
Derby (Ire-G1) hero DYLAN THOMAS (Danehill); Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al
Maktoum’s Royal Whip S. (Ire-G2) hero MUSTAMEET (Sahm) and Philip Newton’s
Sandown Mile (Eng-G2) winner ROB ROY (Lear Fan) are others left in the
10-furlong contest at the five-day stage.
