Heavy rain and strong winds have forced the cancellation of the nine-race
program at Aqueduct on Saturday. Racing will resume on Sunday, with a first-race
post time of 12:30 p.m. (EST).
Three stakes originally slated for Saturday — the $150,000 First Flight H.
(G2), $150,000 Sport Page H. (G3) and $100,000 Knickerbocker H. (G3) — have
been rescheduled for next Saturday, Breeders’ Cup Day. The grassy Knickerbocker
had already been shifted to next Saturday in anticipation of adverse weather
conditions.
Next Saturday’s card will now comprise six races, five of of them graded
stakes. In addition to the re-scheduled events, the $150,000 Long Island H. (G2)
and $100,000 Turnback the Alarm H. (G3) will also be contested.
On Breeders’ Cup Day, parking gates will open at 10:15 a.m., admission gates
will open at 10:30 a.m. and mutuel windows will open at 11 a.m. The first live
race from Breeders’ Cup host Churchill Downs is set for 11:15, with Aqueduct’s
first-race post following at 11:35 a.m.
