Dansili colt tops December opener

Last updated: 11/21/06 6:47 PM

Going through the ring as Lot  No. 491, a Dansili (GB) colt brought
58,000gns to top the opening day of December Foal Sale in Newmarket.  The
colt sold to Ciaran Conroy of Co. Tipperary-based Glenvale Stud. Conroy, bidding
through agent John O’Byrne, and was
bred by John Ellis and offered from Trickledown Stud.

“He was the only one I had a go for today,” said Conroy. “He was a great
mover by a very good stallion, and I should think he’ll come back here for
October Part 2.”

The bay, produced by the Midyan mare Mylania, hails from the family of Hong
Kong stalwarts Mensa and Firebolt.

The second-highest price of the session was 40,000gns for a Monsieur Bond
half-brother to recent Bentinck S. (Eng-G3) winner Bygone Days (Desert King). Offered by Whitsbury Manor Stud for Dr John Hobby, the bay was purchased by agent Oliver
St. Lawrence.

“This was a nice, good-walking colt and, obviously, the catalog update for
Bygone Days was a big plus,” said St. Lawrence. “He’s been bought for a client
to resell.”

The sale continues Wednesday. Complete results are available on
