Khazar leads the way at Arqana’s Autumn Mixed Sale

Last updated: 11/13/06 5:37 PM

There was a distinct jumps bias to the opening day of Arqana’s Autumn Mixed
Sale, when the consignment from
His Highness the Aga Khan produced its usual excitement among the National
Hunt crowd.

Topping the session
was Hip No. 35, the sophomore colt Khazar (Anabaa), a half-brother to the 2002
Grand Prix de Paris (Fr-G1) winner
Khalkevi (Kahyasi) who was successful in a Longchamp conditions event last month. He
will race in the famed green
and yellow silks of the premier jumps owner J. P. McManus after trainer Thierry Doumen sealed the purchase with a
bid of 320,000.

Of the broodmare prospects, Hip 48, the two-year-old Sharaliya (Desert Prince
[Ire]), was
secured by Pegasus Farms for 75,000. The unraced half-sister to the smart
Group/Grade 3 scorer Sharbayan
(Ire) (Doyoun) was another highlight from the Aga Khan draft.

Selling concludes Tuesday.
