Preliminary wagering totals from all common pool sources on Saturday’s
10-race card at Churchill Downs set a new Breeders’ Cup record of $136,726,378.
This eclipses the old mark of $123,978,241 established last year, when Belmont
Park hosted the Breeders’ Cup.
The preliminary totals do not include separate pool wagering and a limited
number of international wagering outlets. These combined figures will be
released next week.
At Churchill, the Breeders’ Cup crowd of 75,132 wagered a record on-track
total of $18,259,971, surpassing the former mark of $16,346,688 wagered at the
2003 Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita.
There were two winning tickets — each worth $1,450,707 — from the
$4,786,481 wagered on the Ultra Pick 6.
