Hip No. 142, a weanling filly by prominent sire More Than Ready, brought a
final bid of $40,000 to headline the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Texas December Mixed Sale
at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Sunday. The top seller was consigned
by Roger Daly, agent, for Ed Few, and purchased by C.C.S. Bloodstock.

The Texas-bred filly was produced from the unraced Social Editor (Editor’s
Note), who is a half-sister to the multiple Grade 3-winning Mz. Zill Bear (Salutely).

The top-priced broodmare prospect came from the Lane’s End Texas consignment,
when Honey Gold (Touch Gold) rang up a bid of $35,000. Selling as Hip 38, the
three-year-old bay went to Jeanne and Dana Bruce.

Honey Gold is out of the stakes-winning Impending Bear (Farma Way), who
placed in the 2000 Black-Eyed Susan S. (G2), Mrs.
Revere S. (G2) and Pucker Up S. (G3). The Texas-bred lass is in foal to Valid
Expectations on an April 1 cover.

A total of 124 horses were sold for a gross amount of $541,300, down from the
$607,400 total brought for 157 in 2005. The average of $4,365 was up 12.8 percent
from the $3,869 average of the previous year, while the median showed a
substantial 40 percent increase, from $2,000 to $2,800.
