Emma-Jayne Wilson earned her second consecutive leading rider title at
Woodbine. The 25-year-old won 144 races, including nine stakes, and closed out the season with a victory
aboard Marsh Side (Gone West) in Sunday’s Valedictory S.

“I’m so thankful I was able to snag the last stakes race,” Wilson said. “It’s
been a tremendous 2006 season.”

Going into the final card, Wilson held a 19-win advantage over Patrick Husbands, who
finished second with 124 victories. Husbands led all jockeys with $7,182,656 in
purse earnings. Jim McAleney, who booted home two winners on the
closing day program, was third with 113 wins.

Last year, Wilson became the first woman in the 50-year history of Woodbine
to win the jockey championship. She was honored with both the Eclipse and
Sovereign Awards as outstanding apprentice jockey for 2005.

Sid Attard emerged from the final card with his third straight training
title.

Attard led Reade Baker by two wins, 77 to 75, going into the final program.
Baker won the 4TH race with Mike Fox (Giant’s Causeway), but could get no closer
as Attard took the training championship with 78 wins. Attard won the last race
of the meet with Goldmart Flash (Bold N’ Flashy).

It is Attard’s fifth title overall. He was the leading trainer at Woodbine in
1982 (Fall), 1996, 2004 and 2005.

Mark Casse, who led all trainers with $4,352,182 in purse earnings, was third
with 67 victories.

Sam-Son Farm captured the leading owner crown with purse earnings of
$2,311,566. Stronach Stables was second with $1,834,093 and a meet-leading 29
wins. Melnyk Racing Stable was third with $1,540,075.
