RIGHTEOUS BROTHER (Storm Passage) sold for the top price of $180,000 to
Heiligbrodt Racing Stable at Tuesday’s Fasig-Tipton Texas Two-Year-Olds in
Training Sale at Lone Star Park. Cataloged as Hip No. 217, the Louisiana-bred
colt was consigned by Robert Brewer, agent.
The sale topper, a half-brother to stakes-placed Timely Sweep (Time Bandit),
is out of the unraced End Sweep mare Sweep and Roll. Brewer purchased the colt
for $20,000 at last year’s Louisiana Breeders’ Sales October Sale.
At the under tack show on April 1, Righteous Brother worked one furlong in a
bullet :10.
The highest-priced filly was Hip 285, a daughter of Siphon (Brz), who sold
for $115,000 to Mark Cornett, agent for Paul Mostert. Consigned by Leprechaun
Racing, agent, the bay lass is out of the stakes-placed Bea Silver (Silver Buck), a
half-sister to multiple stakes winners Be a Natural (Ben Fab) and Natural Eight (Mr.
Redoy). The juvenile lass previously sold for $45,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Texas August
Yearling Sale.
The Louisiana-bred filly also worked one furlong in a bullet :10 at the under
tack show.
The sales company reported 183 horses sold for $3,263,200, a decrease of 27.1
percent compared to last year when 193 horses brought $4,476,100. The average
price dropped 23.1 percent, from $23,192 to $17,832, and the median price fell
33.3 percent, from $15,000 to $10,000.
