Doncaster October ends on positive note

Last updated: 10/26/07 8:47 PM

Doncaster Bloodstock Sales’ October Yearling Sale ended Friday with a 20
percent
increase in average and 25 percent rise in the median.

“The improved figures are
backed up by
a clearance rate of 78 percent, which does not just reverse earlier trends, but
is in total
contrast to them,” commented DBS Managing Director Henry Beeby. “Our pleasure at
the
statistics is further enhanced by the positive response from so many vendors,
who were so
pleased with their results in the sales ring.

“But the real feature of the DBS
October Yearling
Sales has been the really excellent atmosphere from start to finish, which
emanated from a
large crowd of buyers who came to Doncaster safe in the knowledge that this
sale — whilst it
may not be the most fashionable place to buy — is a consistent source of winner
after winner.”

Topping day two was a daughter of Kyllachy consigned as Hip No. 892 by Doncaster regulars
Catridge Farm Stud. Out of the listed placegetter Elsie Plunkett (Mind Games), she is
eligible for the £300,000 St Leger Yearling S. and was snapped up by David Brown for owner Ron
Hull for
60,000 guineas.
