Cee’s Elegance tops final session at Barretts

Grade 2 winner CEE’S ELEGANCE (Cee’s Tizzy), in foal on a May 5 cover to Salk
Lake, sold for the top price of $140,000 at Tuesday’s final session of the
Barretts October Mixed Sale in Pomona, California. Martin and Pam Wygod
purchased the 10-year-old mare from Golden Eagle Farm, which is conducting a
major reduction of its holdings.

Cee’s Elegance won the 2003 A Gleam Invitational H. (G2) and three other
black-type events. She earned $744,039 from a record of 33-6-7-8.

Cee’s Elegance has an unraced two-year-old filly (Midnight Crush [Grand
Slam]), a yearling filly by Awesome Again, and a weanling filly by Forestry
going for her. Cee’s Elegance is a half-sister to stakes-placed Davus (Naevus).
She is out of Elegant Beauty (Norcliffe), who is a half-sister to stakes winners
Culver Coed (Te Vega) and Big Zip (Te Vega).

The session topper was cataloged as Hip No. 429.

On Tuesday, 191 horses sold for $1,383,700, an increase of 26.7 percent
compared to the same session last year when 177 horses sold for $1,091,800. The
average price rose 17.5 percent, from $6,168 to $7,245, while the median price
was unchanged at $3,000.

Overall for the two-day auction, 392 horses sold for $3,818,200, an increase
of 85.8 percent compared to last year when 368 horses changed hands for
$2,054,500. The average price soared 74.5 percent, from $5,583 to $9,740, while
the median price jumped 22.8 percent, from $2,850 to $3,500.
