Ten juveniles will square off in the $100,000 Generous S. (G3) over the
Hollywood Park turf on Friday, and Pilgrim S. winner THE LEOPARD (Storm Cat) is
the likely favorite. The Todd Pletcher-trained colt won’t face the most imposing
group, but he does exit a tough seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf in
which he weakened late over the yielding ground after racing prominently during
the early stages. We’ll try to beat him with INDIAN SUN (Indian Charlie).

Conditioned by Dan Hendricks, Indian Sun just missed when making his career
bow on October 13, closing with a rush to finish second by three parts of a
length in a maiden special weight down the hillside turf course. He returned
three weeks later to break his maiden in impressive fashion, splitting rivals in
deep stretch to win going away by a length, and will stretch out to a mile off
that encouraging performance. The improving colt owns very solid BRIS Speed and
Late Pace numbers, and there’s plenty of speed present on Friday to set up a
winning rally.

The Leopard captured the Pilgrim in wire-to-wire fashion, but he doesn’t need
the lead and will probably be sitting close to the pace during the early stages.
The hot-riding Garrett Gomez will take over in the saddle aboard the dark bay
colt, and The Leopard looks like a very formidable presence here.

ROBSCARVIC (Ire) (Statue of Liberty) made his U.S. debut in the Pinjara S.
but was never much of a factor finishing fifth. He’s eligible to improve off
that showing, and the dark bay gelding has trained forwardly for Paddy Gallagher
in the interim. We’ll use the late runner in the top three.

English maiden winner SPINNING SOUND (Ire) (Spinning World) will make his
U.S. debut for Gallagher, and the uncoupled colt has been training well and
receives the services of Rafael Bejarano. We’ll look for him to get involved
late and won’t be shocked to see him pull off an upset.

D. DOUBLE YOU (Lion Hearted) exits a couple of respectable efforts on the
Cushion Track at Santa Anita and his dam has produced a turf winner. The Peter
Miller charge will likely offer good value, and he’s an intriguing contender for
the exotics at long odds. YES IT’S A CAT (Tactical Cat) scored a front-running
victory in the Pinjara, but the speedy colt will likely face early pressure in
this spot. We’ll take a stand against the stakes winner.

MEER KAT (Red Ransom) was last seen winning a race at Bath (England) on
October 14, and he returns 40 days later in the United States for new
conditioner Ben Cecil. We won’t completely dismiss the English invader, but Meer
Kat draws the far outside post and could lose valuable ground on the first turn. MAKE
THEM BREAK (Sunday Break [Jpn]) steps up off a maiden special weight score at
Bay Meadows. The Martin Jones trainee didn’t finish fast that afternoon, and we
won’t be using him here.

GONE GRAND (Grand Slam) could show speed from his inside post, but we’ll give
him a race on the grass. COASTAL EDDY (Hussonet) broke his maiden for a $62,500
tag last time. We’ll just watch to see how he fares.
