Veteran Louisiana-based jockey E.J. Perrodin had successful surgery on
Tuesday at University Hospital to repair a cracked pelvis, but still faces a
lengthy recovery following injuries sustained prior to last Friday’s 10TH race
at Fair Grounds.

“He’s coming along but he’s still in a lot of pain,” said Tony Martin,
Perrodin’s agent, on Thursday. “When I saw him (Wednesday), he was able to
recognize me all right, but he’s on a lot of medication, so he was going in and
out a little bit.

“It will be awhile before he’ll be going in the right direction again, but
things are coming along good so far.”

Perrodin, 50, was injured when the filly No No Bad Kitty (Storm Day) reared
and subsequently fell on him prior to the final race.
