FRIENDS LAKE (A.P. Indy), winner of the 2004 Florida Derby (G1), was
represented by his first winner at stud when his juvenile son Screen Your Friend
captured the 5TH race at Churchill Downs on Wednesday. Making his third career
start, the Bernie Flint-trained chestnut tracked in second until the stretch of
the 5 1/2-furlong turf test and just got up by a neck on the line with Calvin
Borel aboard. Screen Your Friend was sent off the 9-5 favorite and stopped the
clock in 1:05 1/5.

A Mary and Chester Broman homebred, Friends Lake was a juvenile stakes winner
in the Empire State when capturing the Sleepy Hollow S. The well-bred chestnut
was a distant third in his sophomore debut in the Holy Bull S. (G3), but
improved dramatically in upsetting the Florida Derby field at 37-1. The John
Kimmel trainee was unplaced in both the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Peter Pan S.
(G2), and retired with a mark of 7-3-0-1, $696,400.

The stallion was produced from 1996 Del Mar Invitational Oaks (G1), Las
Virgenes S. (G1) and Santa Anita Oaks (G1) heroine Antespend (Spend A Buck), and
was followed in graded glory by Grade 2 vixen Seeking the Ante (Seeking the
Gold). His second dam, Auspiciante (Arg) (*Practicante), won the 1986 Matriarch
Invitational S. (G1) and Ramona H. (G1).

Friends Lake stands at Airdrie Stud near Midway, Kentucky, for a fee of
$15,000 live foal.
