£42,000 colt
leads Doncaster sale

EQUIPE DE NUIT (Sulamani [Ire]) topped proceedings during the opening session
of the Horses-in-Training section of Doncaster Bloodstock Sales’ October Sales
Tuesday when selling to Nicola McLeay for £42,000.
Runner-up to the subsequent Somerville Tattersall S. (Eng-G3) winner Ashram
(Indian Haven) at Newmarket last time, the two-year-old colt is out of a half to
the German stakes winner Desabina (Big Shuffle) from a top-class family
featuring the German highweight Desidera (Shaadi). Consigned by Paul d’Arcy’s
Charnwood Stables as Hip No. 365, he was knocked down to McLeay, who is the
daughter of trainer David Barron, after she saw off Guy Stephenson.

It was His Highness The Aga Khan’s draft which provided the next top-priced
lot when DIRAR (King’s Best) sold to owner Marcus Reeder for
£35,000. Consigned by trainer Mick Halford’s
Seven Springs Stables as Hip 433, the three-year-old colt has won at Downpatrick
and Dundalk.

As with the yearling sale, the first half of the horses-in-training auction
witnessed falls in average and median, even if they were less dramatic at 28
percent and 12 percent, respectively.

“The level of trade at the October Horses-in-Training Sales has mirrored that
shown with the yearlings on Monday, with vendors being realistic about the value
of their horses,” DBS Managing Director Henry Beeby commented.

Selling of the horses-in-training continues Wednesday. Full results are
