Yearling Sale holds up.
Deauville August was a resounding success in the current
climate and the
attraction of the owner’s premium initiative and the exploits of this sale’s
best graduates — champion and multiple Group 1 heroine Natagora
(Divine Light) and two-time Group 1 victor Saddex (Sadler’s
Wells) — will
aid the cause as the selling of 532 lots gets underway Monday.
Others to have
come from this
auction and make their presence felt on the international stage include
Grade/Group 1 winners Gorella
(Fr) (Grape Tree
Road [GB]), Stormy River (Verglas [Ire]) and
Linda’s Lad
(GB) (Sadler’s Wells), as well as Grade/Group 2 conquerors Touch of Land (Fr) (Lando
[Ger]), Samando (Hernando [Fr]) and Obrigado (Fr) (Enrique).
As
usual, there is a healthy collection of the progeny of leading domestic sires
past and present such
as American Post, Anabaa, Chichicastenango, Gold Away (Ire), Green
Tune, Highest
Honor (Fr), Kendor, Linamix, Marchand de Sable, Muhtathir (GB) and
Verglas (Ire),
while the international sires represented include Dalakhani, Danehill
Dancer, Galileo
(Ire), Invincible Spirit, Nayef, Pivotal and Sadler’s Wells. Those
with their first crop
on offer are Azamour (Ire), Dubawi, Oratorio (Ire) and Whipper.
