Zabeel Racing International Corp.’s GAME FACE (Menifee) tracked the early
pace in third during Sunday’s $150,000
Inside
Information S. (G2)
at Gulfstream Park, drew even with the top two entering
the turn and drew off to post a 2 1/2-length victory under John Velazquez.
Trained by Todd Pletcher, the four-year-old lass finished up seven furlongs on
the fast dirt in 1:22 as the 3-5 favorite and rewarded her backers with payouts
of $3.40, $2.20 and $2.10.

Any Limit (Limit Out) set the pace through splits of :22 2/5 and :44 3/5 with
Keep the Peace (Touch Gold) stalking just to her outside in second. Though she
had no answer for the winner, Any Limit easily held second by 1 3/4 lengths
while returning $3 and $2.20 as the 3-1 third choice. Keep the Peace was worth
$2.20 at 5-2 in third, and was followed under the wire by Stormin Mon (Maria’s
Mon), Pious Ashley (Include) and Precious Kiss (Kissin Kris). The exotics paid
$10 (exacta), $14 (trifecta) and $43.20 (5-2-3-1 superfecta).

Game Face and Any Limit have traded decisions in their prior two races, with
Sunday’s winner taking the First Lady H. (G3) prior to finishing second to her
rival in the Hurricane Bertie S. (G3). In addition to those two, the chestnut
miss also captured last year’s La Troienne S. (G3) and Old Hat S. (G3) while
placing in the Acorn S. (G1) and Davona Dale S. (G2). With this one now under
her girth, Game Face improved her line to 11-6-3-2 and has now banked $468,834
in lifetime earnings.

Bred in Kentucky by Marilyn F. Seltzer, Game Face is the first registered
foal out of the unraced Galleon of Gold (Gone West), who has since produced an
unnamed yearling colt by Indian Charlie. Galleon of Gold is herself a daughter
of multiple Grade 1-placed stakes winner Harbour Club (Danzig), making her a
half-sister to the stakes-winning sire Holzmeister (Woodman). Game Face, who
brought $280,000 at the 2007 OBS March Two-Year-Olds in Training sale, counts as
her fifth dam High Voltage (*Ambiorix), the champion two-year-old filly of 1954
who produced 1966 champion sprinter Impressive (*Court Martial) and Bold
Commander (Bold Ruler), himself sire of 1970 Kentucky Derby winner Dust
Commander. High Voltage is the second dam of multiple Grade 1 winner and noted
sire Majestic Light (Majestic Prince).
