Justwhistledixie favored in Oaks Future Wager

Davona Dale S. (G2) heroine JUSTWHISTLEDIXIE (Dixie Union) closed as the 5-2
favorite at the conclusion of the 2009 Kentucky Oaks Future Wager on Sunday
evening. The Kiaran McLaughlin charge captured the one-mile Davona Dale on March
1 by 3 3/4 lengths following a seasonal debut score in the Ruthless S. by 3 1/2
lengths. Those two scores are part of a four-race win streak Justwhistledixie
has sustained since breaking her maiden at Belmont Park last October.

RACHEL ALEXANDRA (Medaglia d’Oro), a scintillating winner of the Fair Grounds
Oaks (G2) on Saturday, continued her win streak as well with that score and
closed as the 3-1 second choice in the Future Wager. The Hal Wiggins charge was an
easy eight-length winner of the Martha Washington S. in her 2009 bow, and ended
her juvenile campaign with a 4 3/4-length score in the Golden Rod S. (G2) at
Churchill Downs.

STARDOM BOUND (Tapit) has both Justwhistledixie and Rachel Alexandra beat in
terms of winning streaks, scoring her fifth straight with a nose victory in the
Santa Anita Oaks (G1) on March 7, but closed as the third pick in the Future
Wager at 9-2. Up until the Santa Anita Oaks, her connections had been pointing
her for the Kentucky Derby (G1), but the gray champion is now on track for a try
at the lilies on May 1 instead of the roses one day later.

The entry for all other three-year-old fillies was bet down to fourth
favoritism, closing at 7-1 odds. Total wagering on the Oaks Future reached
$72,628, up from last year’s total of $65,219 wagered during the first of three
Pools.
