Numbers improve for Magic Millions fifth session

Last updated: 1/10/10 6:01 PM

For the second straight year, the fifth session of the Magic Millions Gold
Coast Yearling Sale was marked by stronger-than-expected trading. The average
price rose 11.1 percent after seeing a gain of 17.9 percent the year before.

“I couldn’t be much happier with the results achieved today,” Magic Millions
Managing Director David Chester said. “There was spirited bidding through the
sale. To have the average price increase over 10 percent on last year’s figure
is fantastic.”

The aggregate, median price and clearance rate also improved year-over-year.

“Also very pleasing was the clearance rate of over 83 percent,” Chester said.
“A high clearance rate shows the right balance between vendors and buyers, and
to have five days of selling with a clearance of 83 percent is wonderful.”

Leading the session was Hip 895, a Break the Vault half-sister to
stakes-placed Temple of Boom (Piccolo) who was knocked down to a
Queensland-based client of Magic Millions for A$200,000. The lass was consigned
by Eureka Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd.

The sixth and final session of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale will be held
Thursday. Full results are available at www.magicmillions.com.au.
