Last updated: 4/3/10 7:56 PM

After pressing the early pace, Marc C. Ferrell’s GOLDSVILLE (Success Appeal)
rallied to the lead in the stretch of Saturday’s $191,000

Excelsior S. (G3)
at Aqueduct and went on to post his first career stakes
victory. An allowance/optional claiming winner in his previous start over the
inner track, the five-year-old horse completed 1 1/8 miles in 1:51 2/5 on the
fast main track.

With Ramon Dominguez in the saddle, the Michael Hushion-trained winner paid
$5.10, $2.70 and $2.20 as 3-2 second choice among five rivals. Nite Light
(Thunder Gulch), the 7-5 favorite, finished three-quarters of a length back in
second and gave back $2.40 and $2.10. It was a neck back to Seniors Pride
(Sweetsouthernsaint), who established early splits in :24 1/5, :49 1/5 and 1:13
3/5 before yielding in deep stretch and returned $3. More Than a Reason (More
Than Reason) and Stargleam (Aldebaran) rounded out the order of finish, and
National Pride (Macho Uno) was withdrawn.

The exacta totaled $11.60, and the 4-3-1 trifecta was $27.20.

Goldsville, who was making only his third career stakes appearance on
Saturday, has now earned $275,440 from a 20-4-1-3 line. Bred in Florida by Fred
Pace, he’s passed through the sales ring four times, bringing $140,000 as a 2005
Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November weanling and $175,000 as a 2006 Fasig-Tipton
Kentucky July yearling. He RNA’ed for $450,000 at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Florida
February two-year-old sale and for $215,000 at the 2008 Keeneland November sale.

The bay horse is out of the winning House D’Or (Housebuster), who is also the
dam of the multiple stakes-placed filly Chez Audra (Northern Afleet). She hails
from Grade 3 winner D’Or Ruckus (Bold Ruckus).
