KINGMAMBO (Mr. Prospector), long
recognized as one of the world’s leading international sires, has been pensioned
at Mr. and Mrs. William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Kentucky.
The 20-year-old stallion stood his entire career there after retiring as one of
Europe’s top milers.

Bred by Flaxman Holdings and raced
by Stavros Niarchos, Kingmambo captured three Group 1 races: the Poule d’Essai
des Poulains (French Two Thousand Guineas), the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, and
the St James’s Palace S. He retired with a mark of 13-5-4-2, $727,735.

Out of the great Niarchos race
mare Miesque (Nureyev), Kingmabo has sired 86 stakes winners to date and has
champions in eight countries. Progeny earnings from runners by Kingmambo total
in excess of $94.9 million.

“He’s one of the great stallions
of all time. He has sired classic horses, sprinters, and milers,” Will Farish
said.

Kingmambo’s most noted offspring
include 2000 champion older male and Belmont S. (G1) winner Lemon Drop Kid;
Japanese Horse of the Year El Condor Pasa; and Irish highweight and classic
winner Henrythenavigator. His other European-based champions include Divine
Proportions, Rule of Law, Russian Rhythm, Walzerkoenigin and Okawango, while
King Kamehameha was a champion in Japan.

Other notables sired by Kingmambo
include Grade/Group 1 winners Student Council, Voodoo Dancer, Alkaased, Light
Shift, Campanologist, Archipenko, Virginia Waters, Malhub, Dubai Destination,
Thewayyouare, King’s Best, Bluemamba, Tawqeet, and Boboman.
