Uh Oh Bango guts out Berkeley victory

Last updated: 6/2/11 1:08 PM

Triple AAA Ranch’s UH OH BANGO (Top Hit) survived a prolonged stretch battle
with 9-5 favorite Bold Chieftain (Chief Seattle) to register his first graded
stakes score by a neck in Monday’s $100,000
Berkeley
S. (G3)
at Golden Gate Fields.

Under Aaron Gryder, Uh Oh Bango completed 1 1/16 miles on the Tapeta in 1:44
3/5. Conditioned by Kory Owens, the Arizona-bred entered off a half-length
allowance score at Hollywood Park on May 12.

As a juvenile in 2009, Uh Oh Bango won the Prairie Meadows Freshman S. and
ran second in the Delta Downs Jackpot S. (G3), Iroquois S. (G3) and Clever
Trevor S. He briefly flirted with a classics bid in 2010 but wound up fourth in
both the Rebel S. (G2) and Arkansas Derby (G1), and was out of action for more
than 10 months following the latter race.

Uh Oh Bango’s record now stands at 12-4-4-2, $411,612.
