Bling On the Music tops Fasig-Tipton opener at $260,000

BLING ON THE MUSIC, a Grade 2-placed multiple stakes-winning daughter of Too Much Bling, brought a final bid of $260,000 from International Equities Holding at Monday’s first session of the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale in Lexington.

Consigned by Baccari Bloodstock, agent, and offered as Hip No. 68, the four-year-old is out of Soft Music, by Action This Day. The broodmare prospect compiled a record of 6-3-0-1, $153,167, winning the 2016 Gold Rush Futurity at Arapahoe Park and the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity for fillies at Lone Star Park. She also placed in the Pocahontas (G2) at Churchill Downs that season.

The multiple stakes-winning GREAT SOUL, a five-year-old by Great Notion, was gaveled down to Donato Lanni, agent for Glen Hill Farm, for $220,000. Offered as a racing or broodmare prospect, Hip 211 was consigned by Indian Creek, agent.

Out of What Am I Gonna Do, a Partner’s Hero half-sister to stakes winners Heaven Knows What and Doing Great, the Pennsylvania-bred has compiled a record of 11-5-4-1, $259,220. She’s won or placed in five stakes, with victories in the 2016 Wide Country at Laurel and the 2017 Mrs. Penny at Parx.

At the conclusion of trading Monday, 181 horses changed hands for $4,134,200, a decline of 12.1 percent from the corresponding session in 2017 when 164 horses brought $4,702,300. The session average was down 20.3 percent, from $28,673 to $22,841, while the median rose 2.6 percent, from $9,750 to $10,000.
